  2. What is ‘Create New Account’?

    Answer:
    If your record label has 20 artists or bands on their roster you must first add them into the music2text system. A record label can then see all of their acts under one roof in a single account, enabling them to better manage and track individual mobile campaigns.

    Unsigned musicians also get record label accounts because these days they have the option to release tracks featuring [ft.] different artists.

    When you upload, click on the drop menu to select artist or band, as the music2text system needs to know whom you are uploading a mobile track for.

    PRS collection is automatically deducted from all mobile sales - Single Tracks and Ringtones - Unsigned musicians need to register with prsformusic – There is a 6% merchant fee to forward artist royalties which is the bank delivery charge to move funds from one account to another.

    Mobile networks pay out every 90 days after they have removed their processing fee from text2buy sales [Average of 25%] Once these monies are cleared Music2text pays direct to label/artist bank accounts when we receive an artist royalty request via email from your services dashboard.

    Music2text takes nothing from label/artist sales and we return 100% net of sales to all clients.

  8. How fans buy mobile tracks

    Answer:


    Fans buy your single tracks via SMS text after seeing or hearing marketing prompts at your concerts, TV, radio, press, word of mouth, band website or printed flyers. (Text song name to 60444)

    A return text containing a web link & promo code is first sent to the consumer. With a single click, the artist’s MP3 opens and downloads to the consumer's smart device.

    Alternatively, the promo code can be entered into the music2text website for fans that don’t have access to the mobile web.

  9. Mobile pre order with SMS

    Answer:
    Music2text is in the process of becoming a Chart Reporting Company delivering UK mobile sales of Single tracks and ringtones to the Official Charts Company [OCC] via Millward Brown.

    When music2text has concluded that integration with the OCC has we will then inform record labels and artists to start using the new SMS pre order service which has a £50 activation fee. Clients can then retain 100% of sales

  10. How the ‘Pre order’ music market works

    Answer:
    The ‘Pre order’ market generates early revenues for the music industry and these funds are from core fans purchasing online & physical tracks. Music chart compilers also use the pre order system as a barometer to measure the media success of artists.

    Example:
    [1] Record label has the option to select a forward release date [Example] 45-days in the future and makes 10,000 pre sales during that period.

    [2] When the release date arrives all 10, 000 sales will be reported to chart compilers.

  11. What is the Music2text SMS 'Pre order' solution?

    Answer:
    Music2text is the only mobile distribution platform providing an SMS pre order solution for the UK music industry that allows label/artists to set retail pricing and sell tracks or ringtones direct to mobile fans.

    There is a £50 'pre paid' fee to activate a mobile pre order track and label/artists keep 100% of all sales made.

  12. How does Music2text SMS 'Pre order' work with fans?

    (1) Fans text ‘Song Name’ to 60444 after seeing marketing prompts live from the stage, TV, radio, press, band website or printed flyers. They immediately receive an SMS message [See below]

  13. Why should I use this service?

    Answer:
    Our technology auto captures phone numbers from all SMS transactions which instantly creates a database of mobile super Fans.

    Mobile super fans that have been captured with SMS have chosen to ‘opt in’ to receive music from the artist. A record label/artist can make then monetise and interact next day via SMS with new releases or breaking news.

    Publish “text ‘My song name’” into offline artist PR at no extra cost or outlay; such as with concerts, TV, radio, press, printed flyers or the social web and capture your remaining mobile audience. Mobile super fans that have been captured via SMS = a 97% + sales conversion compared to 100,000 social fans = less than 1% sales conversion

  18. Mobile Keywords

    Answer:
    When you upload a single track or ringtone we assign to that song a unique mobile keyword that will be the song name of that track. Fans text your song name to 60444 and the music2text system then tracks; identifies and delivers the MP3 track to the consumer.

    If the name of your song is called love then simply enter the word love into the check box to see if that word is available to use.

    Our systems will then tell you if the word love is available: (Please confirm) text love to 60444 to activate your account.

    If the word love is not available the system will recommend different words or you can use any name you like such as your artist, label or band name.

    To make life easier for the consumer, we advise that you keep keywords under 6 letters. A keyword that is easier to remember/spell is likely to result in increased downloads.

    Any keyword that is incorrectly spelt or difficult for fans to type into their mobile phones does not earn you money because our network will not recognize them.

  19. Renew mobile keywords

    Answer:
    Your mobile keyword is free for 90 days and artists have the option to renew for another 90 days for a pre paid fee of £25. The music2text system will send email reminders when your mobile keyword is about to expire. If you don’t renew then the mobile keyword re-enters the music2text system for another band or artist to use.

  20. Are there any membership, upfront costs or hidden fees?

    Answer:
    Our instant mobile distribution service is 100% transparent, simple to use and very easy to understand. Music2text has no set up fees, nasty surprises, hidden charges or monthly subscriptions.

  21. How does music2text make its money?

    Answer:
    • • Single track or ringtone upload fee [£20] if artists sell music to fans
    • Mobile pre order with SMS [£50] FOR single track or ringtones if artists sell music to fans

  22. Are there “Take Down Charge” to remove tracks?

    Answer:
    There are no take down charges once you upload content into the music2text platform

  23. Can I download sales reports?

    Answer:
    Clients are given online access to a royalty & reports dashboard. Easy read excel reports are updated daily with one click download of your sales reports to PC.

  24. How do I make changes to a track once I have uploaded it?

    Answer:
    If you have made a spelling error, uploaded incorrect files for either music or artwork, then simply edit any track changes you want to make from your dashboard and those changes are live immediately.

  25. How & when do we get paid?

    Answer:
    Direct bank transfer to your account

    If you decide to receive your royalty by direct bank transfer then we will need your account details which must also include your iban & swift numbers and these can be obtained from your bank.

    Iban & swift numbers are codes that identify your bank account internationally & which branch we are to pay directly. You can easily get this information from your local bank.

    We need iban/swift because your royalty payments are made from AIB bank in Dublin Ireland.

    Mobile networks process artists text2buy transactions and they automatically remove their fee [average of 25%] they pay us within 90 days and we pay out one month later. A record labels and unsigned musicians can request payments via email info@music2text.com

  26. Does music2text make any claims on the ownership of my songs?

    Answer:
    No claims are made by music2text on the intellectual rights or ownership of any songs that are uploaded.

  27. What rights am I granting music2text when I use this service?

    Answer:
    You grant music2text the NON-exclusive right to deliver your content through our mobile delivery platform. You grant music2text the right to collect and transfer to you all the money owed to you from the sale of your music.

    You grant music2text the right to use the name(s), photographs and likenesses, artwork images, biographical and other information provided by you in connection with your music or music videos. You agree to the Schedule of Fees, Privacy Policy & terms & conditions for any of the music2text services.

  28. What format should my music be to upload?

    Answer:
    MP3 format 192k only

  29. What are mobile network charges?

    Answer:
    Each time a text sale is made UK mobile networks [or carriers in the USA] charge a processing fee. If the mobile text2buy transaction is above £1.00 they take an average of 25% of the sale to process that track through their systems.

    If the text2buy transaction is below £1.00 the mobile networks charge a processing fee of 50% of the value of that sale to process that track through its systems.

  30. Can I set my own retail pricing?

    Answer:
    Labels/artists can set retail pricing for single tracks and ringtones from £0.00 [FREE promo track], £0.50 or £1.00

  31. How do I send direct2fan SMS marketing messages?

    Answer:
    Log in to your services dashboard and select directf2fan from the menu, which displays the actual number of mobile super fans who purchased text2buy or took down free promo tracks.

    Labels/artists can then compose and send SMS messages direct to fans. (Each sms message sent costs the label/artist £0.05p).

  32. Does the music2text service work on all mobile phones?

    Answer:
    Our SMS technology is simple & works on any of the 6 billion+ mobile phones on the planet and even those that cannot receive the mobile internet. With each text message there is a promo code that consumers can enter@ the music2text website to download artist’s tracks from PC.

  33. How long does it take for my mobile single track or ringtone to go live once I have finished uploading?

    Answer:
    Music2text has a mega fast upload process and in plain English this means your mobile tracks are live and ready to go in well under 3minutes or as soon as you click the mouse to confirm.

  35. Can I upload cover versions?

    Answer:
    You can upload cover versions of songs but first get permission from the rights holders of any music that you wish to reproduce. songclearance.com

  36. What should I know about UPC & ISRC numbers?

    Answer:
    Music2text assigns FREE UPC/ISRC codes per track upload if clients do not have them.

    If clients have their own ISRC/UPC codes just input them during step 1 of the upload process.
