STARBOY NATHAN

STARBOY NATHAN HITS # 23 in the OFFICIAL UK CHARTS
Music2text successfully created a direct2fan marketing campaign for Starboy Nathan, who provided live support on the major UK tours of JLS, The Wanted and N-Dubz. A FREE ringtone campaign [Text Diamonds to 60444] was included in all marketing campaigns; Social [Music Blogs/Facebook and Twitter] TV/radio, print, school tours and also called live from the stage by the artist.

There were no upfront distribution costs as, on the advice of music2text, Absolutemarketing and Rightsman [StarBoy Management] gave away free promo tracks/ringtones to fans, a service that is free to all M2T users. Over the course of these support tours over 9000 mobile super fans were captured which automatically created an SMS database for the artist to post market and monetise.

An SMS marketing message was sent to all StarBoy Nathan's mobile fans offering a free ringtone of his new single 'Diamonds'. A second SMS campaign was sent with a web link itunesdiamonds instructing fans to buy the full track [£0.59] from iTunes. Even before reaching full chart reporting capability in the UK, Music2Text was 'The major player' in helping the artist reach # 23 in the UK charts. Giving away a free ringtone of the official release 'Diamonds' did not cannibalize full track sales Instead, the marketing campaign enhanced the brand value of the artist, as fans were able to sample before buying.

Text2Buy sales conversion ratio compared to social marketing.

99.9% of all SMS messages are opened, read and then actioned - Less than 2% buy music from Facebook, Twitter, Email or Music Apps.

Rightsman conducted the direct to fan mobile marketing campaign through the Music2Text client control panel. This involved sending an SMS marketing message to the entire database of Mobile Super Fans at a cost of £0.05 per SMS and this was done twice for a total of £900 [9000 mobile fans by £0.05 = £450 times two] the campaign turned out to be a very wise media spend for Starboy as 'Diamonds' reached #23 in the official UK charts.

TESTIMONIALS

Keith Harris [Chairman of Music tank, former GM of Motown UK & former Chairman of MMF]
I think the music2text service is really exciting because until now the industry has been focused on terrestrial services especially when fans have been very keen to embrace the mobile environment and this simple to use mobile platform really bridges that gap.

The Music2Text guys (and girls!) are fantastic! They have a very personal label management approach that one can absolutely trust. They always bring new mobile marketing ideas to the table that we integrate easily into artist PR @ no extra cost to our label.

Music2text are a very patient group who don't give up helping us to understand mobile & if they detect something isn't working quite as planned, they don't mess around with finding a same next day solution. Music2text is a Highly Recommended service and a must for all record labels.

Niclas Winblad (The Nielsen Company)
From a telecommunications perspective, Music2Text's innovative service is a great music distribution tool for consumers and distributors alike. It puts pricing and marketing control right into the hands of labels and independent artists. In markets with high mobile internet penetration this convenient service can really take off with consumers and proactive artists/bands.

Matthias Siefert (Bizarre Management)
At a time of great uncertainty in the music business, Music2Text may just prove to be one of those brilliantly effective, yet simple ideas that show the way forward. I can't wait for my acts to start using this tool at their shows - the possibilities are endless. Just wish my band Eagle Seagull (PIAS Recordings) had been able to tap into something like this when they supported the B52's on their last US-tour!

Paul Ablett (Furious Recordings/Vex Management)
The idea of artist and bands communicating directly with fans through their phones may seem a logical progression from fan clubs to MySpace and social networking and now directly to their phones but it is the simplicity of the music2text concept that makes it unique.

It means that a new band can start small and build to a larger and fuller fan base as they progress themselves. For me this is perfect as my artists can see a return from their hard work and make it a part of their promotional activities, without having to learn anything superfluous. This is already a part of my mobile promotion campaign on moving forwards.

Julian Benoiton (Film and Television Director/Straywave media]
The music2text mobile store is straight forward to access, simple to understand and hell of a lot easier to use than itunes and so is the web site which is a doddle to navigate even if you?re wearing a blindfold. Interesting times are ahead for mobile distribution it seems music2text has created a powerful solution that?s been missing from the industry for a long time. I am reluctant to say its impressive

Alison Cockburn (Managing Director, Chimerical Recordings Ltd.)
The brilliance, simplicity & ease of use these mobile music stores that also come with free keywords to easily publish on Facebook or gig have ensured downloads both during and after the event.

For fans of the Artist to be able to download live at concerts or one download click from mobile product page gives Labels an ongoing direct relationship with fans. At Chimerical Recordings we firmly believe Music2Text is a revolution in the making and the next big thing.

For the past 12 months I’ve searched high and low for a solid, reliable service that offers SMS download of singles. It’s something that I thought had died when 7Digital pulled it, until a colleague passed the name Music2Text across my desk. One phone call later and we are relaunching a good chunk of LAB Records back catalogue including all future releases.

Justin Moff 100 milligram management (The Blizzards)
delighted & excited that things are moving well with the music2text project. We here at 100Mg management believe this to be the absolute way forward for selling music to the masses. I've been studying the Japanese 4G model & look forward to a similar set-up here in Ireland/UK I've noticed a huge up-shoot in sales here with The Blizzards (Universal Music Ireland & Island UK) for singles only- Also, Many thanks for all the work you did for me on The Last Tycoons project. We're close to completing that Album & look forward to having you on board for the first single.

Alan Cullivan (Manager of the Thrills)
I believe that MUSIC2TEXT is exactly the type of innovative thinking that will undoubtedly provide alternative ways of distributing music to the music fan and open up new ways for artists to gain revenue in these troublesome times for the music industry.

Erik Nielsen (Music consultant 21st century management & GM of Intakt records)
I've mentioned music2text to many of the artist managers here and all are very positive and interested in the opportunity to get involved. All of the smaller 'independent' acts (Pearl and the Puppets, Healthy Minds Collapse, Dykeenies, Rod Thomas, A Genuine Freak show, Carbon/Silicon and The Puppini Sisters are also keen. I'd be happy to recommend the service and push for its use amongst my clients, and also recommend it to other colleagues throughout the industry.

Rhys Mwyn (ex-Catatonia Manager) MD of ANHREFN RECORDS & RHYS MWYN
The prospect of working with music2text is very exciting; they have a new radical approach to direct2fan mobile promotion. Our feeling at Rhys Mwyn Management and Anhrefn Records is that this is the kind of proactive approach we need for our artists who tend to be more leftfield and cutting edge. This could be the new future of the music industry.

Rob Saunders (www.myspace.com/deucesounds)
This looks like a fantastic product which I am sure will appeal to a large number of bands and artists I am working with. I will be happy to advertise this to my mailing list consisting of over 10,000 bands and various music industry figures when Music2Text goes live!

Jim Lawless (manager The Coronas)
Just let you know about the info you sent me. As you know I represent The Coronas debut album "Heroes or Ghosts" has spent 57 weeks in the Irish charts and has gone platinum here in Ireland. This is something that I think we would be very interested in and could really be a significant source of revenue for a band. I look forward to hearing from you and the project in more detail.
